Concurrent with the American Dietetic Association's annual Food & Nutrition Conference & Expo, Tufts University's Gerald J. and Dorothy R. Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy announced a new Nutrition Science and Communications for Public Relations Professionals certificate program.
Unique in the nation, the online graduate certificate program is designed to build on the core skills, knowledge, and experience of public relations professionals by providing in-depth exposure to science, new media, and consumer marketing within a nutrition communications context.
"The certificate program will help public relations professionals translate science-based nutrition information to their clients and the public," said Friedman School Dean Dr. Eileen Kennedy. "This program will provide remote access to a school full of experts. This fills a vital need for working professionals, and will ultimately result in the public receiving clear, concise messages about nutrition and health."
The school's expertise dates to 2007 with an early collaboration with Ketchum in the creation of an online training program which provided nutrition science education to Ketchum employees.
FoodMinds LLC, the founding sponsor of the program, as well as additional sponsors Weber Shandwick, Edelman, Pollock Communications, PMK Associates, Inc., Fleishman-Hillard, Ketchum, and Porter Novelli have all supported the launch of the program.
